Boiler Feed Pump Startup Procedure
Before startup, check followings:
- Pump should be in energized condition.
- Water in deaerator above 50% level.
- Suction valve in open condition and ensure priming of pump by opening of vent valve.
- Re circulation valve, leak of balancing valve are in open condition.
- Discharge valve is in closed condition
- All pressure and temperature gauges are in line
- Oil level in oil tank above 70% level
- Ensure cooling water is in line for pump bearing and mechanical seal
Start AOP
(control oil pressure should be operating pressure).
- AOP discharge oil pressure should be according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
- Oil pressure at motor bearing should be according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
- Ensure oil flow is view glass at pump bearings.
Start HP Pump
Check following
- Pump suction pressure should be according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
- balancing line pressure should be according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
- Auto cut of AOP after taking over of load by mop
- Motor current with respect to recirculation load
- Any abnormal sound from pump and motor
- Bearing temperature of pump and motor should be according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
- If everything is okay, then gradually open pump discharge valve and check motor current with respect to load
- Check for any abnormal sound for pump and motor
Start BFP turbine (Boiler Feed Pump Startup Procedure)
- After start AOP and checking all oil pressure, engage trip lever by lifting knob.
- Reset solenoid valve throw control panel
- Open cooling water inlet and outlet valve
- Open all range of steam line
- Open inlet exhaust steam isolation valve
- Start opening Governor manually till the turbine is start rolling
- Accelerate speed of turbine by opening its governing valve and bring up to operating speed
- Close all steam drains
- It’s AOP should be stopped after MOP comes a line
